Media Coverage of the Faith-Based Initiative
A new study by the Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism and the Pew Forum finds that President Barack Obama's faith-based initiative has so far generated little of the contentious press coverage associated with the program that was put into place by his predecessor, George W. Bush. And the program is not as closely associated with the current president as it was with the man he succeeded. Go to the report »
Ramadan Begins Next Week
Ramadan, the holy month in Islam during which Muslims fast every day from sunrise until sunset, begins on or around August 22 this year. A May 2007 Pew Research Center survey of Muslim Americans found that 77% of Muslims in the U.S. say fasting during Ramadan is very important to them. Go to the report »
