Jesse Merriam

Jesse Merriam is a research associate in religion and law at the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life. His primary responsibilities are writing and editing legal backgrounders and other pieces on church-state law. He received a B.A. from Wesleyan University and a J.D. with honors from The George Washington University Law School, where he focused his studies on constitutional law and theory. Before joining the Forum, Jesse was an associate at the Center for Constitutional Litigation, P.C., where he litigated various constitutional issues in state and federal courts. Jesse has published several academic articles on constitutional law in law journals such as The William and Mary Journal of Women and the Law and the Temple Political and Civil Rights Law Review. In addition to working at the Forum, Jesse is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in political science, with a focus on legal and political theory, at The Johns Hopkins University.
